Misiu [MÄ-shÅ«] means teddy in the polish language. Misiu is a rescued Pomeranian from the Stratford Animal shelter in Stratford, CT. His story is quite interestingā¦ but before I go into his story I wanted to share a very special experience I had back in 2015 with Nancie LaPier; who specializes in animal communication. I started going to Nancie when I was grievingĀ the tragic loss of one of my poms, I had a lot of angry, guilt and was desperately seeking some closure. Less than 6 month later, I lost another pom to lung cancer and had a difficult time emotionally so I continued to see Nancie, I felt the littlest bit of peace afterĀ each visit. During one of those visits, Nancie had told me she did not foresee me adopting another dog in the near future, she actuallyĀ said not for a couple years. I still remember to this day Nancie’s exact words, “a dog will find you when the time is right, when you least expect it”. In my heart I feel Misiu was the dog she was referencing, he was the one that found me when I least expected it.
August 20, 2018 I was at the vet with Jimmy Choo, we were the last appointmentĀ for the day. WhileĀ checking outĀ at the front desk a gentleman walked in with an adorable little Pomeranian, so of course IĀ made conversation.Ā Come to find out, earlier that morning “Misiu” followed him home while he was out walking his own dogs,Ā he had no tagsĀ or collar. He was brought into the vetĀ to get scanned for a microchip but unfortunately he was not microchipped. I offered to take himĀ in for the nightĀ and planned to continueĀ the search for his owner the following day, and so I did. 24 hours laterĀ and I found myself starting to get attached… and still noĀ luck findingĀ his owner. I knew I needed to do the right thing andĀ bring him to the Stratford Animal shelter to increase the chances of getting him reunited with his owner. It was such aĀ bittersweet feeling, I sobbed when I handed him over to the animal control officer. I don’t know what I was thinking but I found myself filling out an adoption application, having the slightest bit of hope. The law in CT requires an animal shelter to hold a dog for at least 7 days to giveĀ the owner a chance to claim him. Knowing this, I called the shelter every single day for 7 days straightĀ asking if he’s still there. The anticipation made that week the longest week counting down the days until he was finally availableĀ for adoption, he finally came home September 7th! With an unknown birthday we are going to celebrate the day we adopted him, the vet believes he is around 2 years old.

Wagging his tail
Howling while greeting you

Being touched or pet near his butt
Getting picked up… sometimes, he’s temperamental
