Who else throws their dog a “Birthday Party”? Ha, ME! I think I may have been a tad too excited to celebrate this little guy’s “Birthday” (September 7th) aka adoption date… based on these photos! I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and sometimes the timing is just pur-fect. If you haven’t already read my blog post on Misiu and how he came into my life you definitely should, I still get chills thinking about it. He is estimated to now be 3 years old making him 21 years old in dog years. What better way than to celebrate with special ordered dog donuts and cupcakes?? I kind of went all out by custom ordering a bandana but I just couldn’t help myself. You see human parents all over social media using black chalk boards to document kids 1st day at school or birthdays and I FINALLY found one for us FUR-parents on Amazon so we can capture their special milestone. I swear Misiu knows the route to Starbucks by now, he is obsessed with mini puppacino’s, this may be a contributing factor to his weight gain over the past year- oops! Although I must say he spends most days fetching and retrieving his mini size tennis ball, so puppacino treats aren’t THAT bad right? His newest little trick is his howl, he does this when he’s really excited to see me. Howling poms are so adorable! Continuing on to another year full of adventures!
Mark your calendars its dog festival season! I’ve compiled and linked a list of upcoming dog events for the month of October throughout Connecticut! Plan a family friendly day for you and your furry friend. Enjoy music, food trucks and pups while visiting local vendors who educate pet owners about their products and services. Demonstrators will hold K9 and agility demos. Don’t forget to dress your pooch up, majority of these events will be hosting a dog costume parade and contest with fun prizes and awards for winners! Aside from costume contests there are events taking it to the next level by hosting contests such as best kisser, best pet/ owner look-a-like, best tail wag, best strut, best trick and many more! Some events will feature adoption groups/ rescues in case you’re looking to expand your family. Raffles, giveaway bags and lots of free samples will be available. Admission to most events is free, a few request a donation to support their local animal shelter or maintenance and improvements to the community’s dog park. I will be updating this post regularly as I learn more about local dog events in CT.
